Music is a BIG part of our life as a community of faith!
Whether you are looking to share your talents or just enjoy listening or worshipping, we have a variety of options…
Audio & Visual Team
EVERY worship service and musical event requires a lot of people helping “behind the scenes.” If you are interested in serving in this area, we are happy to offer training on the soundboard or running ProPresenter on the big screen. We are also incredibly appreciative of help setting up and taking down equipment.
* We are currently and especially in need of help running audio & visual at the 11:00 service and with set-up & takedown between Sunday services. If you are interested or have questions please call the church office at (913) 367-3036 or contact Pastor Matt directly at email@example.com.
The Chancel Choir leads music at our 11:00 Traditional Service each week and includes members from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Hymns, anthems, and an occasional concert or cantata are coordinated under the direction of Dr. Ruth Krusemark. The choir works hard each week, but they have a lot of fun too!
Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM (January–June & September–December). No previous experience is required. If you are interested or have any questions, please call the church office at (913) 367-3036 or contact Dr. Ruth Krusemark directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Memorial Hand Bell Choir
The Hand Bell Choir is a fun group of novice musicians. No “formal” musical background is required and membership is open to anyone who wants to have fun while making joyous music!
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30–7:30 PM. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Dixie Williams at email@example.com or call the church office at (913) 367-3036.
The Peacemakers Choir is an ecumenical singing group functioning as an outreach ministry of First Christian Church. The group performs a wide variety of music at an advanced level and features vocalists from the entire Atchison community. There are two formal concerts each year plus occasional community appearances scheduled by request.
Membership in the group is by invitation of the director and is based primarily on current needs to support a balanced choir. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30–6:30 PM. Anyone interested in joining the group can contact Dixie Williams directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at (913) 367-3036.
* We currently have open positions in the tenor and soprano sections.
During the summer months we frequently feature guest musicians, soloists, and small ensembles. We also schedule musical guests during special seasons or other occasions throughout the year.
Please let us know if you are interested in sharing as we are always looking to celebrate and discover new talent!
Anyone interested in sharing their talents should contact Dr. Ruth Krusemark at email@example.com or call the church office at (913) 367-3036.
The Worship Band leads music at the 9:00 Contemporary Service each week. In addition to our small collection of vocalists, we regularly feature drums, keyboard, cello, and guitars (acoustic, electric, and bass). Anyone who is familiar with contemporary Christian music knows that there is a place for other instruments as well (flute, violin, horns, etc.) and we still have a little bit of room up front. Many of our musicians and vocalists lead on a rotating basis so don’t hesitate to contact us if you see someone up front with a similar talent or if you are unable to make a weekly commitment.
Rehearsals are generally held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30–7:00 PM throughout the year. If you have questions or would like to schedule an audition, please call the church office at (913) 367-3036 or contact Pastor Matt directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have you ever considered being part of the church’s ministry? We have many opportunities to stay connected and get involved. Let us know what you’re interested in and we’ll find the place just for you!
